YALLA CRAIC

Where Two Worlds Collide

Yalla means 'let's go' in Arabic. Craic ☘️ means 'fun' in Irish.
Together? Pure magic

Yalla is the Swiss Army knife of Arabic—motivation, encouragement, life itself. Arabs can have full conversations using just this word.
Craic is Ireland's measurement system for joy, chaos, and legendary nights. From 'What's the craic?' to 'mighty craic,' it captures connection.

Together, they're the perfect name for games that bring cultures to the same table.

Games 🎮 can achieve what serious conversations often can't:
Genuine curiosity, 💡 Empathy, and 🤝 Connection.

01.

Stereotypes reduce cultures to oversimplified, often harmful caricatures.

02.

Workshops and lectures feel forced, judgmental, and intimidating.

03.

Play creates safe spaces where people open up naturally without pressure.

04.

Understanding becomes effortless. Barriers fade. Real connections form.

THE MOVEMENT

More than a game ! it's a movement to make understanding 🌍 joyful, connection natural, and empathy ✨ effortless.

QUESTIONS?

Everything you need to know 🤔 about the game, our mission, and how to get involved.

Everything you need to know about Yalla Craic, Roots and Resistance, breaking stereotypes through play, and joining the movement.

What is the purpose of Yalla Craic?

Yalla Craic aims to bring people together through storytelling and play, using board and card games to challenge stereotypes, celebrate cultural diversity, and spark meaningful conversations. We believe that games can create safe, joyful spaces where people learn about each other naturally.

Why focus on Arab Countries and Irish culture?

Because it’s our story! As a Palestinian and a Lebanese living in Ireland, we noticed how often our cultures are misunderstood or oversimplified. Yalla Craic gives us a creative platform to represent our heritage authentically, learn more about Irish culture while inviting others to connect with it in a fun, non-intimidating way.

How did the idea start?

The idea was born when Hiba realized how many biases existed on both sides—locals in Ireland misunderstanding Middle Eastern cultures, and newcomers holding stereotypes about Ireland. She wanted a creative way to bridge these gaps. Maria, a game enthusiast and passionate advocate for social justice, immediately joined the vision.
And so, one afternoon in Galway, Yalla Craic began.

What makes Yalla Craic different?

We combine culture, play, and social impact. We’re not just making games; we’re creating experiences that:
1. Inspire curiosity
2. Break down barriers
3. Celebrate identity
4. Encourage empathy
5. Connect people who might never have crossed paths.
It’s entertainment with heart and purpose.

Are you only making one game?

No—this is just the beginning. Our long-term goal is to create a series of games and storytelling experiences centered on culture, connection, and shared humanity. The first game launches the journey.

Is Yalla Craic political?

While we explore themes like identity, cultural representation, and stereotypes, we do not promote any political agendas. Our focus is human, social, and cultural—creating understanding through play, not debate.

Why use games instead of workshops or conversations?

Games remove pressure. They make people relax, open up, laugh, and learn without feeling lectured or judged. A game table can achieve what a serious conversation often can’t: genuine curiosity, empathy, and connection.

What values guide Yalla Craic?

1. Authenticity – representing cultures with honesty and pride
2. Connection – bringing people together across differences
3. Joy – making learning playful and engaging
4. Respect – challenging stereotypes without shaming anyone
5. Empowerment – giving people tools to explore identity and culture safely

Why Ireland?

Ireland is where our founders met and discovered the shared challenges (and opportunities) of cross-cultural living.
It’s a place where diaspora communities are growing, conversations about identity are evolving, and people are genuinely curious—making it the perfect environment for Yalla Craic to spark connection.

Who is Yalla Craic for?

Anyone who believes in the power of stories, connection, and community—whether you're from the Middle East, Ireland, or anywhere else in the world. We welcome players, educators, community organizers, families, and anyone who wants to learn and connect through play.

How can I get involved or support Yalla Craic?
